Unlearning Limits
Hello!
It has been a while and this extended break from my podcast was unintentional and needed.
Back with an amazing guest and I’m happy that having these conversations still excite me.
I’m all about mindset shifting and with the chaos currently going on in the world we really do need it. So let’s get into what this episode is all about.
We’ve Seen This Playbook Before… Now What?
The cycle of bad news is relentless.
Doomscrolling. Outrage. Exhaustion. Repeat. Sound familiar?
As a former journalist, I’ve seen firsthand how the media machine keeps us in a constant state of reactivity. People ask me why I don’t read the news every day. The truth? Most of us don’t even want to watch it. So why are we letting it dictate our nervous systems, our choices, and our joy?
In this first episode of season 2 of Repeat That Again Please, my first guest, the brilliant Tamu Thomas, is breaking down exactly how we can step out of the noise and into our power.
We need to stop playing tug-of-war with our attention. When we constantly react instead of respond, we’re not making progress—we’re just feeding a system designed to keep us in survival mode. Tamu and I discuss how to interrupt this pattern and reclaim our agency.
Why does joy feel like a luxury? Why do we treat it as something to be earned, rather than something to be woven into our daily lives? We unpack why joy is not frivolous—it’s a necessity. We can hold multiple things at once: awareness, responsibility, and joy.
The Trap of Being "Relatable"
We delved into life and relationships because that’s a big part of how we all move in this world.
Women, especially, are conditioned to shrink, to fawn, to be relatable—but who benefits from that? Who gains when we hesitate to take up space, to step into our power, to let go of relationships and roles that no longer serve us? Spoiler: Not us.
And when we do step up? That’s when the accusations of arrogance roll in. Because society isn’t used to seeing women stand fully in their power without apology.
Friendships, business, life—none of it is meant to stay static. But we’ve been sold this idea that friendships should last forever. The truth? Some relationships expire, and that’s okay. Tamu and I talk about why letting go is necessary, why spaciousness matters, and why you need to be center stage in your own life—because if you’re not, someone else will be.
